Non-dairy milks have been a hot topic in the last few years with a multitude of options to include soy milk, cashew milk, coconut milk, pea plant milk, and the list goes on. While there are great qualities to all of these milks (except rice milk, which is high in arsenic), our favorite is unsweetened almond milk, with 30-40 calories per cup, more calcium than, as well as an equal amount of vitamin D, to cow’s milk. You can even opt for a naturally flavored vanilla version to add to your oatmeal, coffee, or overnight oats. Don’t be fooled by misleading messages: all milks made from plants are cholesterol free and should be naturally gluten free. There are plenty of great brands, including Califia Farms, Silk, or the Blue Diamond pictured here. Drink up!
