Lamia Adelby, an Obesity Medicine Nurse Practitioner, began her career with a BSN and pursued nursing in the cardiothoracic ICU, where she discovered how the complex disease of obesity led to her patients suffering from other chronic conditions. Lamia later became a travel ICU nurse while completing her NP degree, exploring different hospitals and navigating various hospital systems. After obtaining her NP degree from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO, Lamia specialized in Thoracic Surgery and Neurosurgery, providing top-quality care in high-acuity settings. She realized the importance of education and lifestyle modifications in improving her patients’ lives. Now, as an Obesity Medicine Nurse Practitioner, Lamia has found her passion in this specialty and enjoys promoting health and fitness. She is grateful to make a difference in her patients’ lives, including working with Arabic-speaking patients. On her days off, Lamia enjoys trying out new recipes, exploring new restaurants, working out, hiking, and practicing Vinyasa yoga at her favorite studio. She holds an MSN in Family Nurse Practitioner from Maryville University.
