Here’s a great recipe submitted by a patient as a new twist on the old bolognese. Instead of buying this box, whip up this quick meal without the MSG and sugar but with plenty of love. Makes 7 servings (1 cup) of sauce Ingredients: 1lb lean ground turkey, raw 1 medium yellow onion, chopped or diced 1-24oz jar Trader Giotto’s Rustico Pasta Sauce (or similar low sugar, under 50 calorie per serving sauce) 1 tbsp oregano 1 tbsp minced garlic 1-2 tsp red pepper flakes 1 tsp olive oil 1 cup diced white mushrooms 1-14.5oz can fire roasted diced tomatoes (or any type but check ingredients as many have added sugar) 1/4c balsamic vinegar Directions: Sauté the onion in the olive oil 2-3min. Add ground turkey. As turkey browns, add oregano, pepper flakes, garlic, and balsamic. In separate saucepan, heat marinara sauce, then add mushrooms and diced tomatoes. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until mushrooms are cooked. Combine both pans into one and let simmer 5-10 min on low heat. Serve over zoodles! ?
