This week we wanted to highlight a fun product at TJs featuring some of our favorite foods - seeds and ancient grains! The Super Seed and Ancient Grain Blend is a mix of just that; made only with buckwheat, millet, chia seeds, flax seed, red quinoa, hemp seed, and amaranth. As with any seed, this blend is a little nutrient (and calorie) dense, but a teaspoon (about 20 calories) goes a long way to add some crunch to your overnight oats. Two tablespoons equates to 130 calories and boasts 2g of Omega-3 fatty acids (the same heart-healthy fats found in salmon). Flaxseed and chia seed are both great, vegan-friendly sources of this important fat and help boost the nutrient profile of this mix. Along with 4g of fiber and 5g of protein, this delicious blend is a much healthier granola substitute. Try sprinkling 2 tablespoons on top of ½ cup greek yogurt with 1 cup of berries for a tasty, granola-like crunch.
