Rockstar of The Month – January 2018 –

My name is Michael Ginter. I’m known as “Big Mike” to my co-workers and friends for as long as I can remember. I have been operating heavy equipment for 30 years. Seven years ago, my wife Cathy and I stopped drinking alcohol. That was a blessing, but we replaced the sugar in the alcohol with cakes and ice cream. Four months ago, my doctor told me my blood work came back showing as Pre-Diabetic among other things. She told me it was serious and recommended a program called Enara Health. As soon as I left my doctor’s office, I called and scheduled for an appointment that week.

I met with Dr. Bailony and he talked about the health risks associated with morbid obesity. That scared the heck out of me. A definite wake up call. He told me about the 90 day VLCD program and said I could start right away or wait until after the holidays. I chose to start right away. I met with Dana, one of Enara’s Registered Dietitians. She gave me a guide for meals which required a lot of meal planning. My wife, Cathy, really helped me with the meals. She would prepare breakfast and lunch three days ahead of time so I always had them ready for work. Dinner was prepared daily. In just three months I’d lost 70 lbs.

Weight Loss progress:

Michael lost 70 lbs. (26% of his weight) in just 3 months.

I went from a 44 waist to a 35 waist. The personal trainer, Vince, set me up with a great workout. I went from not being able to do 1 push-up to doing 250 daily. My wife was incredibly supportive and encouraging. The staff is awesome and has been there for me every step of the way. Thanks to Dr. Bailony’s incredible program, I have embarked on a life changing journey. Now I have six months of maintenance which I really look forward to. Thanks Enara Health!

Reversed his prediabetes with 14% drop in Hg A1c

  • Hemoglobin A1c measures the percentage of your blood hemoglobin that is coated with glucose (sugar). This test reflects your average blood sugar level for the past 2-3 months.
  • A level less than 5.7 is normal, and a level between 5.7 and 6.4 indicates pre-diabetes. A Hg A1c level of 6.5 percent or higher indicates Type 2 Diabetes.

Reduced his body fat percentage by 34%

  • PBF (Body fat percentage) is the percentage of your body that is made up of fat. Everything else is usually referred to as “lean tissue.” This gives a more accurate representation of health, fitness and leanness.

Triglycerides Progress: 52%

Fatty foods and carbohydrates that we eat are broken down into globs of fat called triglycerides.

High levels increase your risk for heart disease, stroke, and nerve damage.

Excess glucose in the blood can be used to make triglycerides, which is why people with insulin sensitivity, prediabetes, or Diabetes often also have elevated triglycerides.
