Phoenix Spotlight: Staying Healthy at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport

Summer is here and that means travel time! Travelling allows us to disconnect, recharge and make wonderful memories. It can also be challenging to find healthy options when the trip includes the airport. Phoenix Sky Harbor airport boasts that it is not only America’s Friendliest Airport but also America’s Healthiest Airport. Let’s look at some of the healthier options for food.

The Healthiest Food Options at Phoenix Sky Harbor

Scramble

Located in Terminal 3

This local eatery has vegan and gluten-free options. Scramble prides itself on using local farmers to deliver fresh food. Check out the veggie scramble or veggie omelet.

Wildflower

Located in the Main Concourse and Gate A9

This is a local eatery with salad options including a vegetable quinoa salad or chopped salad with added protein.

Fresh Market

Located in Terminal 4

They offer convenient grab and go salads and protein boxes.

Bring Your Own Snack

If none of those options fit your taste or you want to save money for the fun activities you have planned at your destination then consider bringing your own food and snacks. TSA guidelines allow for solid foods and liquids if less than 3.4 ounces. Get creative making your own “lunchable” with chopped vegetables, nuts, fruits, and turkey/beef sticks. Don’t forget to pack a reusable water bottle in your carry on so you can fill it after going through security.

Boost Your Step Count

If you have some extra time before the flight or end up being delayed, then take advantage of the Sky Harbor Fitness Trail to boost your step count. The trail is a little over 1 mile from Gate A30 to Gate D18 in Terminal 4. You can enjoy views of area mountains, parks, and the downtown Phoenix skyline.

With some planning, you can fill up on a healthier option and get some physical activity. All that is left to do is have a great time and make some memories!
