I was already on a big life adventure when I found Enara, or actually when Enara found me through a social media ad.  I had just made a big move from North Carolina to the Bay Area to begin a challenging new job.  Although I had downsized my possessions for the move, I brought a significant amount of excess weight to California that I had carried for years.  I always joked that it was baby weight, however, my ‘baby” had just left the nest for college, so I was pretty much out of excuses.

There had been many solo attempts with weight loss over the years, but none of them were successful in any meaningful way.  Enara turned out to be the accountability partner I needed to help see me through.  I love tracking my meals using the Enara app.  Since the focus of the program is very plant-based, I find it to be a fun photographic challenge to highlight all the colorful vegetables I am eating at each meal.  Exploring all the phenomenal Bay Area famer’s markets has also become a big part of my California adventure as a result!

The feedback and check-ins with my Enara nutritionist (shout-out to the awesome Viveca!) has been the key to success.  Useful advice and encouragement are abundant.  The medical supervision is all data driven, which is great for me since I am a data-nerd.  They have all the latest medical-evidence and pair it with my own data in a very scientific way to guide my continued progress.  And that fact that my interactions can be done virtually using great technology is a plus, since my schedule is crazy.

The bottom-line is that over the last year I have finally lost all the “baby weight” and am down 60 pounds.   I have maintained muscle mass, normalized my blood pressure, and have enviable lab results.  A colleague was recently complimenting me on my progress and asked if I was done with my diet.  My answer was that I no longer feel like I am on a diet.  Enara has simply helped me to overhaul the way I eat in a sustainable way.  I now crave whole foods and have healthy weight and lifestyle that I can enjoy for years!

Laura’s Weight Loss:

Laura’s Percent Body Fat:

  • PBF (Percent Body Fat) is the percentage of your body that is made up of fat. Everything else is usually referred to as “lean tissue.” This gives a more accurate representation of health, fitness and leanness.

Laura’s LDL Cholesterol:

  • LDL is the bad cholesterol.
  • It collects in the walls of blood vessels leading to atherosclerosis which put you at greater risk for a heart attack or stroke.
  • The goal for people with one other risk factor for heart disease (e.g. increased BMI, high blood pressure, diabetes, family history) is an LDL level under 100.
