Meet Katie, our March Rockstar! She has lost and kept off over 50 lbs and has reduced her percent body fat by over 18%!

Throughout my life I’ve struggled with my weight. As an actress for many years, I was hyperfocused on my appearance and seemed to obsess about weight loss whether I “needed” to or not.  As a result, I have done virtually all of the diets and programs with varying levels of success, but my results never seemed to be long lasting.

Before a milestone birthday I had lost 20 pounds and was feeling good before starting a new, demanding job, and gained most of it back due to stress and a general lack of self-care. When COVID hit the stress of my job and life in general surged as it did for so many others. I was drinking more than usual, working even more hours, and absolutely jumped on the homemade sourdough train. By fall of 2020 I was at the heaviest I’d ever been. I weighed as much as I did when I was 9 months pregnant with my second child. I was miserable on every level. I saw my OB-GYN and she recommended Enara. She had other patients who had been successful on the program and suggested I give them a try.

I started my journey with Enara in October of 2020. With the guidance of my nutritionist Danielle and Dr. Pollema, we elected to start with Stepwise through the holidays before shifting to VLCD in the new year. Simply by photographing my meals to hold myself accountable and adjusting my portion size and food choices, I started to see progress immediately. I also started exercising regularly again which not only aided in my physical health but boosted my mental health as well. Even through the holidays and making only minor changes I was able to lose 15 pounds.

In January of 2021 I started on VLCD and immediately saw rapid progress. Over the next 3 months I found what worked for me, changed some preconceptions I had about how food worked with my body (thanks to the genetic profile) and doubled down on my physical fitness. Running became my secret weapon and my meditation.

The support from my Enara team was invaluable. Everyone was so encouraging and focused on my personal success, not only to reach my goals, but in helping reframe my relationship with food and my body. At the end of VLCD I had lost nearly 55 pounds and felt fitter and healthier than I ever had. I am approaching a year since starting maintenance and I’ve kept the weight off and even continued to reduce my body fat percentage. The team is still there to support me and keep me in check when I need to be but what Enara has taught me, and why I believe it is so effective for so many people, is that it really isn’t a “diet,” it’s reframing your relationship with food and exercise. It’s teaching you a lifestyle and supporting you on your journey.

Katie reduced her percent body fat by over 18%

PBF (Percent Body Fat) is the percentage of your body that is made up of fat. Everything else is usually referred to as “lean tissue.” This gives a more accurate representation of health, fitness and leanness.

Katie lowered her total cholesterol by ~17%:

  • Cholesterol is a waxy substance that comes from two sources: your body and food.
  • Excess cholesterol can form plaque between layers of artery walls, making it harder for your heart to circulate blood.
  • There are two types of cholesterol: “good” and “bad.” Too much of one type — or not enough of another — can put you at risk for coronary heart disease, heart attack or stroke.

Katie lowered her LDL cholesterol by ~30%:

  • LDL is the bad cholesterol.
  • It collects in the walls of blood vessels leading to atherosclerosis which put you at greater risk for a heart attack or stroke.
  • The goal for people with one other risk factor for heart disease (e.g. increased BMI, high blood pressure, diabetes, family history) is an LDL level under 100.
