Grocery Spotlight: Wild Caught Frozen Crab Meat

Getting tired of the typical chicken or fish rotation day in and day out? Try mixing up your protein with Trader Joe’s Wild Caught Frozen Crab Meat. Crab is a great lean source of protein (just 45 calories and 11g protein for 2 oz) and is a good source of many vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin B12 and the antioxidant mineral selenium. Crab is also a decent source of heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids (about 350 mg per 3 oz serving) and taste great on top of a big salad. Crab is notorious for being pricey, but TJ’s offers this tasty crustacean for just $7.99 for ½ pound. When choosing crab meat always go for the real thing- imitation crab is just white fish that has been highly processed with salt and sugar added. Other fun recipe ideas: try tossing with black beans, green chilies, diced tomatoes and taco seasoning for a quick crab taco or make a tasty crab cake using ground oats instead of bread crumbs! Happy grocery shopping!
