As my retirement was approaching, I knew it was finally time to do something about my weight. I needed to lose at least 50 pounds, which seemed daunting to me and I wasn’t sure how best to go about losing that much weight for good. I have been overweight most of my adult life and have tried different diets and would lose but once I stopped the diet, the weight would creep back on. I was looking for a nutrition lifestyle change, not a diet. A diet to me is something temporary and I felt I needed to make permanent changes in the way I eat in order to get my weight down and to improve my health.
I noticed a couple of my coworkers were losing weight and looking great and they told me they were on the Enara program. After talking with them about the program, I decided to check out Enara; what did I have to lose! I especially liked the fact that Enara had a dietitian as part of their weight loss team and knew I really needed the help of one to help me in making the right nutrition choices. My weight loss journey with Enara has been a slow but consistent while on the Stepwise program and has taken me nearly 16 months to lose 40 pounds. I am down three sizes and am very happy with the results. Now getting down 50 pounds is within reach, and I can’t believe I am almost there.
With Danielle’s help, I have learned to eat the right foods, to control my food portions and to be mindful of what I eat. I love how much more energy I have now and noticed the increased energy level the first week I started the program. Since I have retired, I am able to exercise more and am going to Jazzercise classes 5-6 times a week. Taking pictures of my food helps me stay accountable and on track. An added bonus is that my husband is also losing a little weight, although he doesn’t need to, and is eating better too.
I am so grateful to have found Enara to guide me on my weight loss journey and to help me make this important lifestyle change. I owe a big thank you to Leticia and Danielle for all their help and guidance. I could not have done it without them!

Susan’s Percent Body Fat:
- PBF (Percent Body Fat) is the percentage of your body that is made up of fat. Everything else is usually referred to as “lean tissue.” This gives a more accurate representation of health, fitness and leanness.
Susan’s Triglycerides:
- Fatty foods and carbohydrates that we eat are broken down into globs of fat called triglycerides.
- High levels of triglycerides can increase your risk for heart disease, stroke, and nerve damage.
- Excess glucose in the blood can be used to make triglycerides, which is why people with insulin sensitivity, pre-diabetes, or diabetes often also have elevated triglycerides.
