Grocery Spotlight: Trader Joe’s Organic Rolled Oats with Ancient Grains & Seeds

Looking to step up your breakfast game? Or perhaps add some variety or an extra dose of fiber in the morning? Look no further than Trader Joe’s Organic Rolled Oats with Ancient Grains & Seeds! Aside from rolled oats, this blend contains quinoa, amaranth, chia, and flax. Once prepared, it has a chewier texture and nuttier taste compared to oatmeal by itself. Thanks to the chia and flax seeds that thicken up after adding liquid, it’s a great base for overnight oats—no need to add extra chia seeds if you use this blend. Also try it cooked on the stovetop or in the microwave (directions on package), or in these breakfast oatmeal bars! It’s 180 calories per half cup dry, so for those on a VLCD a better serving size may be ⅓ cup measured before adding liquids.

Nutrition Facts (per ½ cup dry): 180 calories, 4g fat, 29g total carbohydrate (5g fiber, 0g sugar), 8g protein

Nutrition Facts (per ⅓ cup dry): 120 calories, 2.7g fat, 19.3g total carbohydrate (3.3g fiber, 0g sugar), 5.3g protein

Ingredients: organic rolled oats, organic amaranth flakes, organic quinoa flakes, organic chia seeds, and organic ground flax seeds
