It’s no secret that Enara loves Trader Joe’s! We see new products on its shelves all the time, and this time we wanted to share not one, but three recent additions to its spice selection! They all contain a hint of salt, but derive flavor from mostly spices, herbs, and veggies.

Italian Style Soffritto Seasoning Blend

Ingredients: dried minced onion, tomato flakes, sea salt, dried minced garlic, crushed chili peppers, parsley flakes, crushed red pepper, dried rosemary, sage leaves

Sodium: 30 mg per ¼ tsp

This warm and aromatic blend is seriously yummy. Try it on anything Italian or pizza-inspired, such as Pizza Spaghetti Pie, as a roasted veggie topping, or even sprinkled on an omelette!

Ajika Georgian Seasoning Blend

Ajika Seasoning

Ingredients: crushed chili peppers, coriander, fenugreek, dried minced garlic, salt, marigold

Sodium: 0 mg per ¼ tsp

As the bottle suggests, this blend is spicy, garlicky, and deeply aromatic and savory! Try this on roasted cauliflower, hard boiled eggs, chicken breast, or any other foods that might be on the bland side.

Cuban Style Citrusy Garlic Seasoning Blend

Ingredients: garlic, citric acid, onion powder, salt, lime oil, lime juice, red pepper, bay leaves, coriander powder, cumin powder, ground black pepper, rice concentrate, bitter orange oil, oregano, cilantro, basil, lemon oil, marjoram, parsley

Sodium: 45 mg per ¼ tsp

Inspired by Cuban mojo sauce, this bold spice and citrus blend works great to brighten up fish or poultry (but also other savory foods like beans or avocado). You may note that there is rice concentrate in the ingredients, but it adds less than a gram of carbohydrate per serving.

With so many flavors bursting from these bottles, those watching sodium intake may find additional salt unnecessary. These spice blends are also incredibly versatile – we’re sure you’ll find more uses beyond the ones suggested here. Give these a try a let us know what you think!
