Rockstar of the Month: May 2021

Meet Jessie, our May Rockstar! She has lost and kept off over 18% of her starting weight.

I have always been very active and my job as a Wildlife Biologist allows me to work outside much of the time. I am an avid equestrian, and love to be outside hiking with my dog and my wonderful boyfriend. As an early career professional I was working 60 hour weeks, and pushing myself as physically hard as I could (not getting enough sleep, and turning to caffeine or sugar to keep me going). I travelled for work a lot, and living out of hotels was a great excuse to eat out for most of my meals. I was getting a lot of exercise, and I thought I was eating healthy after being a vegetarian for 10 years, but I felt exhausted all the time and my weight was climbing. I noticed that my inspiring neighbor and friend was losing weight and had that healthy glow that I so desperately wanted. She told me about Enara, and I decided to give it a try!

I came to Enara almost 3 years ago with the goal of getting healthier, and re-learning how to eat well, and trusted that the weight loss would be a product of those changes. When I started at Enara, I honestly wasn’t sure how I was going to be able to eat healthy while travelling. I was nervous about being tired and hungry, and that it would affect my ability to keep up with my demanding work and travel schedule. How wrong I was! Danielle has supported me every step of the way, and has helped me to transform my habits whether I am on the road or working from home. I have created a “healthy eating on the road toolkit”, and shared my ideas with many of my coworkers!

The biggest lesson that I have learned in Maintenance has been that if I take care of myself, eat healthy, get enough sleep, and exercise regularly I have more energy than I ever have before! I know the experts always say this is true, but I had to experience it for myself to really change my habits. If I let any of those things slip, I instantly notice old habits start to creep back in, and that feeling of heavy exhaustion starts to come back.

My journey at Enara has not been easy, but by sticking with the program Enara has completely changed my relationship with food. I can say with confidence that I am healthier and more fit than I have ever been in my life. I know for a fact that Enara has changed my life, I know how good it feels to feel good and I never want to go back to the way I felt before I walked in to Enara!

Thank you so much Danielle, Michael, and Dr. Bailony!

Enara Health: change in PBF is often a better metric than change in weight

PBF (Percent Body Fat) is the percentage of your body that is made up of fat. Everything else is usually referred to as “lean tissue.” This gives a more accurate representation of health, fitness and leanness.

Jessie lowered her triglycerides by 46%:

Enara can help you improve your health markers
  • Fatty foods and carbohydrates that we eat are broken down into globs of fat called triglycerides.
  • High levels of triglycerides can increase your risk for heart disease, stroke, and nerve damage.
  • Excess glucose in the blood can be used to make triglycerides, which is why people with insulin sensitivity, pre-diabetes, or diabetes often also have elevated triglycerides.
