Diabetes Prevention Program

Enara’s Diabetes Program is based on The Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) diabetes prevention program (DPP). It is  a twelve month diet and lifestyle program designed to help those at risk for type 2 diabetes lose 5-10% of their body weight, through diet and lifestyle changes in an effort to prevent type 2 diabetes.

How it works

Enara Health delivers the CDC Diabetes Prevention Program in-person or online through video chat telehealth sessions

In addition to helping lowering the risk to develop type 2 diabetes, the program can also lower the risk of having a heart attack or stroke, improve health overall, and help people feel more energetic.

Can I do this program alongside Enara Weight Loss Program?

It depends on your insurance. Medicare beneficiaries are allowed to participate in intensive behavioral therapy alongside doing the DPP. However, some private insurances do restrict their members to doing one program at a time. Talk to one of our insurance specialists to find out.

How is Enara’s DPP different from the weight loss program?

The DPP program delivers specific curriculum based on CDCs curriculum and is only for people with prediabetes. All sessions are in groups (but you do get individualized feedback online). Our weight loss program provides 1:1 counselling sessions and the learning modules on tailored to what your discuss in those sessions. Our DPP program does not endorse or support any specific type of diet, meal plan, or meal replacement. The National DPP emphasizes a well-balanced diet, and uses the MyPlate recommendations as a foundation for healthy eating. In our weight loss program, your coach may recommend specific diets and meal plans.
